Cost: $1,300 (for 5 sessions). Rebate of $141.85 applicable per session, with a valid mental health care plan.
EMDR therapy is a highly effective mental health technique for dealing with PTSD. It is based on the adaptive information processing model using bilateral stimulation - usually visually by moving one’s eyes in a specific way - to create new neural connections in the brain.
You can purchase the EMDR Reprocessing package once you have completed the EMDR Assessment package, or with a psychologist’s or psychiatrist’s approval. Your psychologist may also require you to do extra sessions if there are any comorbid mental health issues or medical complications.
The full EMDR therapy treatment is an eight-phase program for treating Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) that we deliver in two stages:
Stage one allows your psychologist to assess whether you are ready for Stage 2 and to prepare you for the reprocessing of traumatic memories.
In Stage 2 using bi lateral stimulation your psychologist will assist you in the reprocessing of traumatic memories and replace them with more positive feelings.
Please note:
- Extra sessions to Stage 1 or Stage 2 may be required by the psychologist depending on your progress.
- Both packages are delivered by one of our clinical psychologists, either online or face-to-face.
- Once you have purchased a package, you will be contacted by Reception to set up your appointments.
